Please join us for an hour of student research presentations that will broaden our understanding of fish in the food web of the Lake Sunapee Watershed.
Brian Mitchell and Alex Gomez-Agudelo from Colby-Sawyer College will present their research findings on the invertebrate community structure and function in the streams above and below the Mt. Sunapee sewerage treatment site and upstream of the State Beach. They will also share the results of their work with NH Fish and Game Biologists to conduct a trout migration study at this site. They will also share more about how they have used E.coli and water chemistry data to better understand the dynamics of this site.
Natalia Gonzalez from New England College will present her research analyzing the contents of fish digestive systems using a metabarcoding approach. This genetic technique is enhancing our understanding of the organisms that the fish in our watershed depend on as their food sources.
We hope you will join us to learn more about this research and to support these next generation scientists as they contribute to our understanding of the Lake Sunapee Watershed.
