Local Weather
LSPA has installed three new professional-grade Davis Weather Instruments with rain gauges. These weather stations are located at Georges Mills, Herrick Cove, and on the lake South of the Fells.
LSPA also has a weather station in Sunapee Harbor that was installed in 2010. All stations measure and record air temperature, wind speed, and precipitation continually. The stations' data offer long-term trends in weather patterns and provides real time local weather information to the public.
The links below show measurements at three of the locations:
Air & Water Temperature Forecast
This is a daily forecast of air and water temperature for Lake Sunapee. In contrast to the live buoy, these data are predictions (with uncertainty) of future water temperature at the buoy at 8 pm EST.
Air temperature (ºF) is the forecasted high and low air temperature provided by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). Water temperature (ºF) is the forecasted temperature for each day at 8 pm. The top value for water temperature is the most likely water temperature. The bottom values represent a 95% confidence interval, which means that there is a 95% chance that the water temperature at 8 pm will fall within this range.
This forecast is created daily by Virginia Tech researchers and is based on the buoy data collected on Lake Sunapee and NOAA forecasts. If you would like to learn more about Virginia Tech’s water forecasting, check out their website here.
