The wind instrument from the LSPA Buoy indicates what you may have known all along-that our prevailing winds here at Lake Sunapee are primarily from the west. What may surprise you is how consistently persistent that direction has been, at least for the past several months, as indicated in the windrose as shown. The Wind rose shows the speed and direction since late August 2007 through February 2008. Blue represents less than 3 meters/sec; yellow 3-4 meters/sec; green 4-5 m/s; and red is greater than 5 m/s. (1 meter per second is equal to 2.24 miles per hour.)
