As a part of a hands-on 5th year engineering degree requirement, three Dartmouth students are designing the buoy and its communications systems. They are working with LSPA volunteer John Merriman, a retired systems engineer. A data and remote communications specialist, Dr. Ken Chiu at SUNY-Binghamton, is working, on a GLEON-related grant, on remote communications issues for all GLEON buoys.
