LSPA's buoy sustained some severe damage on March 24th and 25th during the ice out days.
In April, LSPA staff and volunteers, with the help of Dennis Booth (Docks Plus), went out to look at the suspected damage.
Sure enough, the ice chunks tore through one solar panel bracket, and dipped the upper structure most probably into the water. This caused the weather and other instruments to get really wet and tossed around by the ice sheets.
In May, the staff, volunteers again with the help of Docks Plus, put back the buoy super-structure and working instruments.
Check out the new "live buoy" tab, under Programs, for live data, along with educational information.
