The Natural Lakeshore Habitat - A Closer Look
A Lakeshore Walk at The Fells
Come learn about the wonderful natural world that exists where the water meets the land. This joint Fells-LSPA program will explore this ecotone, or transitional meeting of two different natural communities. What are the plant and animal species that inhabit this zone? What special relationships exist here? What does a healthy lakeshore habitat look like? This program, designed for upper elementary school age through adults, begins with a presentation the the John Hay Classroom in the Gatehouse, followed by an easy hike along the shore of Lake Sunapee. Waterproof boots may be helpful. LSPA and Fells members: free. Nonmembers: included with regular admission fee. Advanced registration is requested, though walk-ins are welcome.
